Grief is universal, but you don’t have to walk through it alone.

Hi! I'm Kelly. I'm an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist and Certified Wellness Coach.

I offer coaching and tools to help you process the emotional pain from grief, loss, and change so that you can feel complete and reach for more joy in your life.

"Each person's grief is as unique as their fingerprint. But what everyone has in common is that no matter how they grieve, they share a need for their grief to be witnessed. That doesn't mean needing someone to try to lessen it or reframe it for them. The need is for someone to be fully present to the magnitude of their loss without trying to point out the silver lining."

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Grief Recovery is therapeutic, but it’s not therapy. Let me explain. The Grief Recovery Method is evidence based. That means researchers at Kent State University have found that it has positive therapeutic benefits – people completing the program feel better having gone through the process. But, it’s different from therapy. First, it is limited in scope — we only deal with grief. Second, it’s a specific program of a limited duration — we will go through the Grief Recovery Method together over 7 or 8 sessions, it’s not open-ended.

  • Absolutely! You might be surprised to learn that there are over 40 kinds of loss we can experience. Death and divorce are two of the ones we think of the most. Others are a difficult medical diagnosis for you or a loved one, growing up in a dysfunctional home, the loss of a pet, or experiencing infertility or miscarriage. One definition of grief is “the conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behavior.” Examples of these kinds of grief are retirement, moving, becoming a caregiver. All major changes create emotional energy. If you ever find yourself wishing things were different, better, or more, those are clues that you are experiencing unresolved grief.

  • I do not work directly with children. My Grief Recovery programs are only for those 18 and up. However, I do offer a Helping Children with Loss class that is for adults so that you can learn how to support your children and teens through grief, loss, and change. This class is great for parents and caregivers, but it's also a great resource for those working with children on a professional level, like teachers, administrators, coaches, youth leaders, etc.

  • Whether you choose to work with me on your personal grief recovery, in my Helping Children with Loss class, or in wellness coaching, you should know that these are action-based classes. We will have weekly sessions. In between sessions, you will have some homework to do. Nobody likes the sound of homework, but it’s a critical part of the process. That’s what makes it action-based, and that’s why it works! I’m available to my clients in between sessions for questions and coaching. I want you to be successful, and I will be with you every step of the way. Once the sessions are finished, you’ll have the tools to use throughout your life, and you’ll always have access to me for additional support.

  • Grief Recovery only deals with grief -- no matter the source of your grief. Wellness Coaching helps you in other areas of your personal wellness - health, sleep, stress management, relationships, career, etc. Wellness coaching helps you bridge the gap between where you are and where you’d like to be and can be a really helpful tool in finding your new normal after a loss.

If you are experiencing grief, I will always recommend that you do the Grief Recovery Method first and then move on to other wellness goals.
